Todd Heap, former tight end of the Baltimore Ravens, suffered a major lost Friday afternoon. Heap accidentally hit and killed his 3-year old daughter while moving his truck in the driveway of the family’s Phoenix home.
According to the Arizona Republic, Police responded to the accident around 3:45 p.m. and were informed the girl was on the driveway when Heap moved the truck forward and hit her.
She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, but authorities stated Heap did not show any signs of impairment.
Heap attended Arizona State University, where he was a two-time All-Pac-10 selection. As a first-round pick out of Arizona State in 2001, he played 10 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and two with the Arizona Cardinals, before retiring in 2012. He was inducted into the Baltimore Ravens Ring of Honor in 2014.
Thoughts and prayers to the Heap family.
